The WL Football Philosophy

“Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.” Vince Lombardi I believe that Coach Lombardi hit the bull’s-eye with this statement. At WL we try to emulate and teach these simple principles to our student-athletes. Within the football program we strive to instill these concepts in every participant involved. The following characteristics are identified as pillars of our program.

  1. Attitude: The winning attitude! Every Cardinal football player believes that he is better than the man he is competing against. Furthermore, as a team, we always believe that we can win.
  2. Desire: Desire to be the best! There is no room for Cardinal football players who are content with being average. Our quest is to be a better team today than we were yesterday.
  3. Discipline: Simply put, Cardinal football players will have a respect for rules, hard work and finishing the job (on the field and in the classroom)!
  4. Pride: We are a family. Any individual involved with the WL football program takes pride in what we represent and puts value into the principles in which we believe.
  5. Passion: Love the game.
